Welcome to our Youth Ministries

Woodlawn on Wednesday (WOW)
Woodlawn on Wednesday (WOW)

A weekly time of fellowship, faith and fun for children, youth, & adults! Youth, grades 6th—12th, will have their own special activities including meaningful conversations, playing outrageous games, and eating stuff they probably shouldn’t! “Safe Gatherings” certified adults are on hand to help facilitate and direct, and clean up afterwards, and parents are always welcome! Wednesday evenings from 6—7 PM in the Youth Center (south end).  Contact Karis Brown for more information.

During the first Wednesday of each month, a meal will be served in the Worship Center @ 5:30 pm!

Sunday School
Sunday School

Join Woodlawn’s Youth each Sunday from 9—9:45 AM in the Youth Center classroom for in-depth lessons on the Bible, its stories and the lesson they are meant to teach us. Each lesson includes Bible reading, discussion, and even a game or two! This is perfect for students who want to really deepen their knowledge of the Bible or can’t make it to our Wednesday evening activities!

Confirmation
Confirmation

For our youth who are in 8th grade and up and want to become full members in the United Methodist Church, check out our Confirmation courses! Starting in January each year, we’ll be teaching our youth about the ins & outs of the UMC and Christianity: focusing on why we get baptized, the meaning of the sacraments, the teachings of John Wesley, and our Book of Discipline and Social Principles. We will also be visiting other churches’ & faiths’ worship services to get a taste of what the God of Abraham has to offer! We also ask our church members to mentor our young United Methodists, so that our burgeoning members have someone to pray with & look up to.

Interested in joining our Confirmation class? Contact Youth Director Karis for more information!

Endowment Scholarship

Woodlawn is proud to offer a brand new scholarship, benefitting Woodlawn’s high school seniors seeking post-secondary education and Woodlawn’s college students (freshman through fifth-year senior). Visit our scholarship’s webpage for more information!

Camp Horizon
Camp Horizon

Each summer, youth from Woodlawn UMC attend camp at Camp Horizon outside of Ark City.  It is an amazing opportunity to gather with youth from other churches for a week of incredible games, community building and Bible study.  Most of our youth will tell you that this is their special place – that place where they go to connect with God as they experience the beauty of creation and encounter God in one another.

Mission Work
Mission Work

At Woodlawn, our mission is to spiritually shape people to be the heart, hands, and feet of Jesus in the world. With that in mind, our youth take seriously their calling to go into the world to serve others. In addition to occasional service projects during youth group, we take a summer mission trip each year. These trips are an amazing opportunity to be the heart, hands, and feet of Jesus while strengthening our faith in the process.
