WOW Chili Cook-Off & Intergenerational Activities!

February WOW Dinner & Intergenerational Activities: Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser & More!
Get ready to warm up and have some fun at our February WOW Dinner Intergenerational Chili Cook-Off, happening on February 4th from 5:15–6:00 PM! This month’s WOW Dinner will look a little different as our children and youth take the lead in hosting a chili cook-off to raise funds for Children’s and Youth Ministries.
The event is free to attend, and everyone is invited! Participants will enjoy a tasting kit and a toppings table stocked with Fritos, cheese, sour cream, and more. Instead of traditional judging, your donations become the votes! Each chili will have a basket, and guests can vote for their favorites by placing money in the baskets. Bring one big bill or a handful of $1s—spread your votes among your favorites or go all in on one chili! We will also have a card payment option, where you donate a certain amount online and we give you an equivalent amount of voting tickets to use during the event! All donations will go towards our Children & Youth Ministries.
Prizes will be awarded at 6:00 PM to the top three chilis that raise the most money:
🥇 Golden Ladle
🥈 Silver Spoon
🥉 Bronze Bowl
We will also honor our Cook-Off winners during both services on Sunday, February 8th!
Want to enter a chili in our Cook-Off? The entry fee is simply providing your own chili—we’ll take care of the sample cups, spoons, bowls, and setup. Please sign-up outside the office listing your name, type of chili, spiciness level, and indicate if it contains anything that restricted diets cannot consume (gluten, meat/red meat, dairy, etc.). We are also asking for our chili cooks to show up at 5:00 PM to set up for the event.
Whether you’re cooking, tasting, voting, or just enjoying the fellowship, this is an intergenerational event designed to bring us together as one in Christ. Tables will be available to sit and enjoy your chili, along with conversation cards to spark meaningful connection. We encourage families to mix up with other families, and all ages to mix up at tables and enjoy fellowship with someone of a different age or background. Our faith is stronger when we relate across differences!
After our Cook-Off, from 6-7 pm: Pastor Kim will be hosting her United Methodism 101 class in the Chapel, and the Children & Youth will be in the Youth Center Basement watching the Veggietales movie Lord of the Beans together! They will snack on popcorn, do some coloring pages, and discuss the movie’s themes of responsibility, greed, and using gifts wisely after it finishes.
Come hungry, come generous, and come ready for food, fun, and fellowship!
