WOMEN OF THE WORD
"Jonah: Navigating a Life Interrupted" by Priscilla Shire

Host and Leader: Ginny Hall
What do we do when God interrupts our lives? Many times, like Jonah, we run. In this study, Priscilla redefines interruption and shows that interruption is actually God's invitation to do something beyond our wildest dreams. When Jonah was willing to allow God to interrupt his life, the result was revival in an entire city.

MEN’S BREAKFAST AND BOOK STUDY
Thursdays, 6am, New study starting August 15
“It’s better than it looks” by Gregg Easterbrook
Do you worry about the future?  Does the steady media gloom prompt visions of the sky falling?  Do all these seem threatening:  government, culture, drugs, terrorism, hunger, climate, population, pollution, inequality, racism, sexism, dictators, nuclear weapons, globalism, KU football,….Are prominent politicians leading us to despair?  If you prefer facts on these matters, you will appreciate Easterbrook’s exposition on why we should be optimistic in this age of pessimism.  He argues that “at no juncture in American history were people better off than they were in 2016,” and he marshals comprehensive data to prove his assertions.  Besides the improvements in positive things he also describes the reductions in the negatives.
