Sunday Mornings

8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. -- TRADITIONAL WORSHIP SERVICE

These services use traditional readings and responses; congregational hymns, organ music, and choir anthems; and scripture-based sermons.


9:45 a.m. -- CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP SERVICE

Worship with an upbeat, modern feel. Music, and often prayer, is led by a praise team consisting of vocalists, piano, drums, guitar, and bass. A traditional scripture-based sermon is offered. 

5:30 p.m. -- CHURCH ANEW, RELAXED WORSHIP

Church Anew is a ministry of Woodlawn United Methodist Church featuring an interactive and casual worship service for the whole family every Sunday evening at 5:30pm.  Nursery is provided for 0-4 year olds.

Communion is served the first Sunday of each month at all services. Woodlawn offers an open table to all those who wish to take communion. The elements of bread and grape juice are served by intinction, meaning that as you come forward, you are to tear a piece of bread from the loaf and then dip the bread in the cup before partaking of it. If you are allergic to wheat products please let us know - a substitute is available. 


Sunday School

Children Sunday School: 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Toddling to Jesus

Children who turn 2 by September 1 2012 are invited to a special Sunday school class just for them! They will begin to build friendships and explore basic Faith Words and Bible stories. This class is only offered September- May and meets in the toddler nursery.

Children’s Sunday School- Grow, Proclaim, & Serve (GPS)

 

Children’s programming is available from  for children who are 3 years of age before September 1 ,2012 through 5th grade. Your child will have the opportunity to build friendships and learn about the Bible lesson by participating in a classroom setting. Your child will learn about the Bible lesson through games,crafts, age-appropriate Bible lessons and application activities. Each child in your family will learn the same Bible lesson and be sent home with a GPS (Grow,Pray, & Study) guide to encourage you to take time each week to discuss the lesson at home. 

Anew Kids, Sunday Evenings as part of Church Anew Worship (K-5th Grade)

Children will begin worship with their parents in our new casual worship setting. After a brief family message the children will be escorted to a special Children’s Worship area. During our time together, your child will get to experience the weeks Bible lesson in a high-energy environment that teaches through song, drama, games, video clips and more.

Youth Sunday School: 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Sunday School is offered for youth in grades 6 - 12.

Fight-the-Flow gathers together weekly making the assumption that everyone has thoughts on who God is, what the church is, and what the purpose of humanity is. This is group targets our Junior and Senior thinkers. Romans 12:2 commands us to be renewed into the image of Christ. Renewal doesn't happen unless we are opening up to each other and honestly sharing where we are. This group is founded upon respect of self and of others.



Adult Sunday School

CATS (Christians Arising to Serve), 9:45 - 10:45 a.m.

Areas of study vary and are chosen by the class members. Most participants are retirees, attended by singles, as well as couples.

Spiritual Quest, 9:45 - 10:45 a.m.

Senior Ladies gather to participate in various studies chosen by the group.

Pastor Vic's Class, 9:45 - 10:45 a.m.

A gathering of seniors for coffee, fellowship, Bible study, and shared wisdom and discussion led by Pastor Vic Calcote.

Faithweavers, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00

This group meets during the children’s Sunday school hour and follows the same path of study for the purpose of strengthening families in their spiritual growth. It is open to adults of all ages and phases of life. The topics of study are biblically based, culturally relevant, and designed to deepen one’s faith and increase one’s knowledge and understanding of the scripture, so that it can be applied to our daily living.

Nursery

Woodlawn’s nursery is committed to providing a safe, nurturing Christian environment for young children. The nursery is staffed by caring adults and youth who have been trained and screened to ensure a safe and positive experience for your child. Nursery is available for all worship services and when adult classes are offered. Parents must remain on site when their child attends the nursery. 

Regular Nursery Hours: Sunday 8:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m., & 5:15-6:45 p.m. & Wednesday 6:15-8:15 p.m.
