Facility Vision

The facility requirements team concluded church tours with Newspring and Church of the Magdalen. Both were amazing tours that generated many ideas and much discussion for the team.

We are receiving limited input from the suggestion box at the Facility Requirements display. There is also a suggestion box in the education wing at the children’s check-in area. Please take advantage and offer your thoughts and ideas on Woodlawn’s facility needs. We’ll be wrapping this campaign up in two weeks! Now is the time to give us your feedback. We want to hear from you!

The facility requirement process is concluding this month for Woodlawn’s major areas of ministry.

It is clear that Church Anew, Children’s ministries, our Youth program, and Jack and Jill represent the strongest need for new facility, additional space, technology upgrades, improved security, and aesthetic improvements.

We’ll soon visit with architects about concept drawings that will help us meet these increasingly important needs and ensure the continued growth and vitality of Woodlawn’s many areas of ministry.

One component to our vision for the future will be a Fellowship Hall transformed into a beautiful multifunctional space that is suitable for most any event or function including Church Anew weekly worship.

A second piece to the vision is a newly constructed Youth facility with adequate space and amenities to host District Conferences, Youth concert events, activities, and worship.

Acquisition and conversion of existing space for expansion of our Children’s ministry and Jack and Jill are also important requirements.

Please continue to offer your thoughts and ideas as we move into the vision building phase of this process.

These are exciting times for us here at Woodlawn!

Blessings,
Steve

Our tour of the newly constructed Hope Covenant Church in El Dorado was a real treat. The church has experienced a 20% increase in Sunday worship participation since building the new facility. The team gathered a number of ideas that could be beneficial to our own church facility.

Please be sure to contact me at
facilityvision@woodlawnumc.net if you would like to participate in facility requirement activities.

On Sunday July 17, Woodlawn ministry and missions representatives will take a facility tour of Hope Covenant Church in El Dorado, KS. Hope Covenant is a relatively new and younger congregation. In five years time, they have moved from worship in a city owned building to their newly constructed facility with a modern worship space, children’s education wing, and café style atmosphere in a common gathering area. The structure is reserved yet beautiful in its design, and it is sure to offer some inspiration to us as we consider our own facility requirements at Woodlawn.
Additionally, we hope to glean some insight from the Hope Building Design Team regarding their facility requirements, design process, contracting, and costs.
I encourage your involvement, participation, and feedback as we continue to work through our facility requirement process and plan for the future together.
Grace and Peace,
Steve

Woodlawn and its important missions and ministries are vital to our community and the world. We continue to be blessed with many successes that promise an increasing number of lives being touched for Christ.
Our Youth and Children’s ministries have become “wildly successful” with very significant projected growth that is key to the future vitality of our church. The Connecting Team, Mission Team, Evangelism Team, and Church Anew have also identified growth potential and capital requirements necessary to support current and future needs.
With these things in mind, I invite you to engage in a dialogue that will continue throughout the facility assessment process. What are your concerns, hopes, and dreams for Woodlawn and future generations who will worship, learn, and serve God in this church?
If you have thoughts, ideas, or insights regarding a particular ministry or facility expansion, I urge you to share. Let’s build the vision for Woodlawn’s future together.
Grace and Peace,
Steve Pierce
